It's an enduring symbol of all in this world that is functional. So how did this sticky wonder come about? It was World War II and there was a need for a strong, flexible, durable, waterproof tape that could seal canisters, repair cracked windows, repair trucks, and help the war effort in general. Permacell, a division of the Johnson and Johnson Company, stepped up to this challenge. Using medical tape as a base, they applied two new technologies. Polycoat adhesives gave the tape its unshakable stick and polyethylene coating allowed them to laminate the tape to a cloth backing, making it extremely strong and flexible. The resulting tape was nicknamed "Duck Tape" for its ability to repel water, while ripping easily into strips for fast convenient use. After the war the tape was put to the more civilian use of holding ducts together. So the product changed from a nameless army green tape to the familiar gray duct tape. Choose from a broad variety of vivid colors or wild Duck Tape prints Thirty years later, Jack Kahl, former CEO of Manco, Inc., changed the name of the product to Duck Tape and put ‘Manco T. Duck’ on the Duck Tape logo, giving personality to a commodity product. Manco, Inc. also began to shrink-wrap and label the product, making it easier to stack for retailers, and easier to distinguish different grades for customers. Now, over 50 years after its invention, Duck tape is sold in more than 20 colors and is touted by its followers for having a nearly endless amount of uses. What will happen to Duck Tape? What advancements in Duck Tape technology will be made? Only time will tell.Preparing Surfaces to Use Duck TapeWhen using Duck Tape, whether the traditional silver or one of the rainbow of Duck color tapes, all surfaces should be clean and free of dust or dirt before placing any tape on them. You will want to dust the surface and then wipe the area down with rubbing alcohol. However, rubbing alcohol can dull certain surfaces, so try it on a small, inconspicuous area before applying on a large scale.

I ordered this after the engine cover lost a few bolts and decided to fall to the ground, dragging and sounding like the entire undercarriage was on the ground.. I was able to tape it up with some off brand duck tape, so I ordered this one to have on hand in case that was to fail me before getting to the shop for repair. The car is blue, that’s the reason for the color, as it currently is rocking the silver which is a bit of an eyesore and draws attention. Going to the shop today, but figured for the unbeatable price, there was no reason not to grab it to have around for any further mishaps. This roll of duck tape arrived exactly as shown, and is in new condition. I would definitely buy again. I had quick shipping, thanks to Prime. It worked fin on patching the rips on my lawn tractor seat and it was about as close to the original color as I hoped to get. It didn’t hold up as well as I expected and I finally had to put a seat cover on it but it stuck well enough that it stopped the foam from coming out through the rips. For a few bucks it was a decent fix and I have used other types of Duck brand tapes that have held up well and this was just getting a lot of wear from my butt so I can’t complain it didn’t last forever.I could not find this red color in the couple stores I looked in and went to the reliable Amazon to search for some. I am so glad I found it and at a reasonable-ish price, but definitely quick delivery!I am a teacher and bought this to repair the red notebook that I use for attendance and grades. the spine had broken and I only had a few weeks left in the school year. I didn't want to use a new notebook, that notebook and I had been through so much already. The red color matched my red notebook wonderfully. The tape was easy to put on and did its job. I was so excited to mend my notebook. I used some of it to label some boxes and furniture when I packed up at the end of the school year. It worked great for that, too. I know the things are mine for sure when I see that red tape on it. :)Used to cover sharp corners on a metal buildingSimply put, there is nothing like the original duck tape. The knock off brands will probably do for certain jobs, but to keep one reliable heavy duty tape in the house, you gotta get the best.Great value! It works. Not sheer...but didn't need/expect it to be so!Ton of tape- will most likely last a life time. A little pricey but you get so much more the cost. Like 4 times as much as in a standard rollAs you can see from the high quality bumper repair work on my luxury / performance Kia Rio 2 the tape is perfect. It's creepy how the tape blends seemlessly into the paintwork when applied, becoming almost invisible to the naked eye ! You may look at the picture and disagree, but that's just an optical illusion. It's very sticky, seems to hold really well and has done the bodgit job I needed doing. Super happy (seriously).I bought this to "repair" the seats on a classic Rover which are red leather. The red tape doesn't look so bad as traditional black or silver would do and I can live with that until I get the car retrimmed properly. The tape was way cheaper than a whole new leather interior, so bargain in that sense, but I was a little surprised there was not a lot of tape on the roll...Used indoors and outdoors and has poor adhesion in both settings. Also tried on different surfaces and the best use for it is to use to tape up boxes!!Not intended for purpose at all. I have used Duck Tape in the past that has worked for months in the rain and outdoor settings but this certain tape did not live up to the hype. Look elsewhere. These chairs were falling apart, the rattan had gone brittle.Instead of the tip, I covered them in duck tape. They feel strong but I don't know how they'll weather. Even one summer would be better than nothing. I'm thrilled with the tape, it was very sticky and strong enough to put tension in.This is duck tape and works as expected my main problem was that the supplier looks like it's a UK company but unfortunately I did not notice the long delivery time as it came from America.
